TAP Dance

TAP DANCE is a form of dance characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Tap shoes have metal plates on the toe and heel that create a rhythmic sound. The dance blends rhythm, music, and movement, and it can be performed to various music styles, from jazz to pop.

Key Features of Tap Dance:

  • Rhythm and Timing: Tap dancers act as percussionists, creating complex rhythms with their feet.

  • Techniques: Steps such as the shuffle, flap, and cramp roll form the foundation of tap routines.

  • Styles: Tap has different styles, including rhythm tap (focused on sound and musicality) and Broadway tap (focused on performance and storytelling).

We are excited to offer this NEW genre for 2025 at JOKSOD and hope lots of students will take up the class.
